		<description>May I suggest putting a ruler in front of the camera and snap a photo to see how much of the ruler will end up in the shot, then calculate the angle which the lense  would follow. Using that using that angel get the distance from the tower using Tan(angle)/(height of tower) = distance from tower

I know nothing of cameras and hardly remember the trigonometry but Wikipedia know a great deal about it :)
