About me
Hello reader, my name is Ivo Jansch.
I was born in 1976, the year that the first Cray-1 supercomputer was developed. Although it would've been incredibly cool to be able to say that this had a significant impact on my life, it didn't.
After getting my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, I worked at Philips Electronics for a few years, where I worked in projects dealing with streaming MPEG4 over the internet (which was pretty nifty, at the time, in 1998) and the first generations of DVD Recorders.
Since 2000, I'm employed by Ibuildings, a full service PHP agency, founded by fellow CS student Tom Schenkenberg. Ibuildings offers development services (projects and outplacement), professional services (consultancy, security, performance and architecture audits) and training.
Over the years it has grown into a pretty cool company, with over 80 employees in four offices (Utrecht, London, Sittard and Vlissingen), and we're also the official representative of Zend, the PHP company. This is something we're very proud of.
As the CTO of the company, I'm responsible for coaching our employees, defining development methodologies and procedures, representing the company, being part of the PHP community, working with key customers and applying a corporate strategy regarding technology.
I wrote a book called "php|architect's Guide to Enterprise PHP Development" which was released in July 2008. As of November 2008, I have a monthly column on Enterprise PHP in the php|architect magazine.
In my spare time, I spend time with my girlfriend Leoni, play Nintendo Wii, watch movies, take pictures, travel (as much as I can, which is not as much as I'd like ;-)) or surf the internet.
I also occasionally spend time on ATK, my PHP 'business framework', or any of my websites, such as FrekFly.com, epointment.com or Simulism.org.
From time to time, I give presentations on various subjects. Most of the presentations I did can be found on my slideshare page. Subjects I particularly like are PHP, Web 2.0 and ATK.
If, for whatever reason (I'm pretty open-minded), you want to get in touch with me: send me an e-mail at ivo at jansch dot nl, or call Ibuildings and convince the one that picks up the phone to connect you to me (which might not be easy, they are well-trained ;-)).
